Release Date: September 10, 2012
Cover Price: $0.99
It’s been about six months since I reviewed the first volume of this series but I was definitely looking forward to reading the sequel. Archeologists Of Shadows, Volume 2: Once A Nightmare is just as entertaining and exceptional as the previous one. I wasn’t sure what to expect after the way the first one left the story hanging but the followup was a delight. We find our heroes, Baltimo and Alix, in a dreamworld at the beginning of this book. They are forced to go through trials of pain and fear to reach their destination. Unfortunately for them, not everyone cooperates on their quest. I will admit, the challenges they face individually are supposed to be introspective and to give us a better look at their personalities. Instead, we find ourselves aware of the results before the battles are finished. This doesn’t detract from the storyline, but it is the one complaint I had in the entire comic. I love the story that Lara Fuentes is slowly telling, it has so many possibilities and is obviously far from over. The final scene will definitely leave you fiending for more.

It’s hard to describe a movie like Movie 43, because there is no actual place to start. The comedy is a collection of shorts and skits directed by – take a deep breath now – Patrick Forsberg, Peter Farrelly, Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Tusty Cundieff, James Duffy, Griffin Dunne, James Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, and Brett Ratner. If you thought the directors list was big, just wait until you see the cast list. This hilarious red band trailer features comedic acts that can only be described as vulgar, disgusting, provocative, offensive, and other repulsive adjectives you can think of. But it’s all for the sake of comedy, and this red band trailer reveals that Movie 43 has the potential to be a daring comedy. Check out the trailer and the actors involved below. The film stars so many people, that it’s impossible to fit them in this opening text. Take a deeper breath than the one you took before, as this is the cast of Movie 43…

Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: September 26, 2012
Cover Price: $3.50
How in the hell have I been missing out on The Goon for so long?! I was just recently introduced to Eric Powell‘s excellent series and I was floored by this amazing throwback horror comic with a dark sense of humor. The comic takes place in an alternate Depression-era setting where monsters lurk around every corner just looking to get the jump on the Goon and his partner in crime, Franky. The Goon is a thug who’d fit right in with Batman’s rogue’s gallery. Only here there’s no Batman and the Goon will gleefully stomp a mudhole through whatever goblin crosses his path. This makes him a hero of sorts, but only because in a world brimming with demons, he’s the lesser evil.
