After taking a stab at writing and directing Let Me In, Matt Reeves attached himself to helm a new version of The Twilight Zone for Warner Bros. Unlike the last Twilight Zone film, which consisted of multiple vignettes directed by a variety of filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, George Miller, and John Landis, this iteration would only have one director. However, it’s been a year since the announcement was made and the film is no closer to starting principal photography. As a result, Reeves is exiting the project. Variety reports that with Reeves out as director, WB has sent out a directing assignment to find the right person to direct. No word yet on who received the assignment. There were no reported creative conflicts between the two parties, however, Reeves’ schedule played a huge part in his decision to leave The Twilight Zone remake. Reeves is currently attached to projects like The Passage, This Dark Endeavor, and The Invisible Woman, which leads us to an interesting development for Dawn of Planet of the Apes.

| $5 MP3 Album Deal: Alice in Chains ‘Unplugged’ |

As part of Amazon’s monthly $5 MP3 album deals for September 2012, Alice in Chains‘s Unplugged is on sale for only $5. Hard to believe 16 years have gone by since Alice in Chains recorded this live album in the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Majestic Theatre. It was one the band’s last appearances with singer Layne Staley, the toll of his drug addiction obvious in his sickly pale face and emaciated body, though not in his voice. This Unplugged album is not some diluted version of a plugged-in Alice in Chains, but more of a soulful retrospective, quieted down for a deeper experience. Included on the album are all the songs you know, like “No Excuses,” “Rooster,” “Would?,” “Down In A Hole,” and “Got Me Wrong.” There’s also the CD+DVD that contains the live CD along with the MTV Unplugged concert DVD. Browse the main sale page to see the other 99 albums on sale for only $5 each in MP3 format through the end of September 2012.

A slew of new promotional material for Cloud Atlas is hitting the marketing wire, and it does a great job of showing the ambitious scope of The Wachowskis‘ latest film. The project is difficult to describe largely because it features a large cast playing as multiple characters cross various time periods. In the film these actors play a variety of roles, some which requires the actor to play something outside of their own race, age, and even sexuality. Now seven promotional banners put these roles and time periods up on display. Check out the seven new banners, plus two tv spots here below. There has been positive buzz circling around Cloud Atlas since it made its official debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Critics have praised The Wachowskis (Andy and Lana) and Tom Twyker for creating a movie that is not limited to one genre. Others have praised the make-up used to change the actors’ appearances.
