Paramount Pictures participated today in the 123rd Rose Parade in California with a float celebrating some of their most memorable franchises, like Star Trek, Transformers, and Grease.
The 55-foot-long float, called “Paramount Pictures … 100 Years Of Movie Magic,” marked Paramount’s first time in the annual parade and contained replicas of Star Trek‘s famed starship, the USS Enterprise; the Autobot Bumblebee from Transformers; and Greased Lightning, the car from Grease, as well as other symbols of Paramount’s past.
George Takei, the actor who played Sulu in the Star Trek television series and movies, posted a photo to his Facebook page of himself in the stands at the parade with the Paramount float passing by behind him (see image here at top).
According to THR, Bumblebee was decorated in petals of brilliant yellow strawflower, gray poppy seeds, and black chive seeds. As the float passed with 10 Paramount employees aboard, longtime game show host and parade co-host Bob Eubanks said that his son, Corey, drove Bumblebee in the first Transformers.
Watch the video here below of the Paramount float in today’s parade, which had the theme “Just Imagine.”
