The hit HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down is on its way back for a third season, and an official premiere date has now been set.
The new season will start Sunday February 19 at 10pm, kicking off an eight-episode season and coinciding with the start of Major League Baseball’s start of Spring Training. It will be followed by the pilot episode of a new comedy titled Life’s Too Short, which stars the great Warwick Davis (Willow, Leprechaun, Harry Potter), Stephen Merchant, and Ricky Gervais, all playing themselves.
Season 3 brings Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) back to the States from a stint in Mexico, where he finds himself pitching as a closer for the Myrtle Beach Mermen in South Carolina. As he continues to struggle with growing older, he’ll also need to start (maybe) learning the responsibilities that come with being a father.
Other returning cast members include Steve Little, who plays Kenny’s loyal sidekick Stevie; John Hawkes and Jennifer IrwinElizabeth De Razzo as Stevie’s Mexican wife Maria; Andrew Daly as Terrence Cutler; and some special guest appearances by Katy Mixon as April, Will Ferrell as Ashley Schaeffer, and Matthew McConaughey as a baseball scout.
Saturday Night Live, Hall Pass, and Horrible Bosses star Jason Sudeikis also joins the cast this season as the Mermen’s veteran catcher and Kenny’s new best friend.
