Despicable Me

Yeah, because this seems like a logical move.

Following the recent move off the project by actor Javier Bardem, Deadline reveals that Universal and Illumination Entertainment have found a replacement to fill the role of villain in their upcoming sequel Despicable Me 2 in the form of one Al Pacino.

The character had been rumored to be named “˜El Macho,’ but unless they decide to have a campy performance from Pacino, the role may be getting a retooling. That said, personally, I love this move for Pacino. The first film was admittedly entertaining and quite a surprise, and if there is one thing that Pacino has in spades, it’s charisma and charisma bred by his bloody cartoonish voice.

Overall, while I’m not totally sold on a sequel, I do think that Pacino could make the film an absolute blast, so hopefully this won’t fall apart like the previous talks between the studio and Bardem. Fingers are definitely crossed.
