The Avengers Minifigures

Toy Fair NY is going on right now and we’re getting a look at a lot of cool toys that will be coming out in the next few months. One of the big items shown was the first look at Lego‘s line of The Avengers toys, tying into Marvel‘s big movie this year. Marvel’s partnership with Lego was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, and showed off The Hulk, and now we have seen the rest of the team and their various vehicles. The press release from Marvel did not list an in-store date for these toys, but you can be sure they’ll hit stores leading up to the May 4th release date of the movie.

 Captain America's Avenging Cycle

First up we get Captain America and his Avenging Cycle. I really like the shiny paint used on Cap, I just wish there was a better shot of his shield in the pictures that were provided. The Cycle playset comes with three figures, including Cap (duh) and two others to be named later.

Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape

Next, we have Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape, which also features three figures, Loki, Hawkeye, and Iron Man as well as Hawkeye’s “function-packed S.H.E.I.L.D. off-roader.” I’m a really big fan of Loki in this set, with his spear and magic helmet (or is it helmet and magic spear). Hawkeye looks okay, but isn’t anything special. I’m not a fan of the Iron Man figure. The helmet looks too big and the body doesn’t have a lot of detail on it. Hopefully there is still some work to be done on this figure and it will be a little better looking when the set is actually released.

Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout

Then we have the Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout Set, which includes the figure everyone will be looking for: The Hulk. Who doesn’t want a massive Lego Hulk to keep on their desk, or wherever you display your Lego’s? Wait, you mean kids play with these, too? Madness! This set also has Loki and Hawkeye figures (which look to be the same as the ones from the Cosmic Cube Escape set) and throws Thor into the mix. The Thor figure looks pretty decent, and comes with the world’s cutest Mjolnir. The set also comes with a fighter jet complete with projectile choking hazards, I mean, flick missiles and the jail of the helicarrier.

Quinjet Arial Battle

Quinjet Arial Battle Reverse Angle

Finally, we have the Quinjet Arial Battle Set. The Quinjet comes with at least four figures, including Thor, Loki, Iron Man, and the Black Widow and has more features than you can shake a multi-billion dollar experimental jet at. It’s got missiles, prison pods, mini-jets, and more. It is one sweet-looking ride that Avengers fans are going to have to pick up.

Like I said, these should all be out in the next couple months or so as we lead up to the release of The Avengers. The press release points out that the figures in these photos does not represent all the figures that will be in the sets when they see release, so who knows what else is coming. Marvel promises more news from Toy Fair as the week goes on so be sure to keep your eyes on the lookout.
