A new full theatrical trailer for Ridley Scott‘s 3D return to the Alien franchise (sort of) Prometheus is set to debut later today during a live screening that will be accompanied by a Q&A session with the director moderated by screenwriter Damon Lindelof. In the meantime we have a minute-long IMAX teaser trailer with footage never seen before to whet your appetite.
You can watch the trailer here below.
Prometheus is without question one of the most anticipated movies in many a year. Seeing Ridley Scott return to the genre that he built his directorial career on three decades after the release of his seminal sci-fi noir Blade Runner is a cause for celebration that can’t even be matched by The Dark Knight Rises or The Avengers. As a result the expectations will be even greater than your typical summer movie spectacle. Scott’s been off his game in recent years so maybe Prometheus will put him back on top. In any case these trailers are looking better by the day. If this teaser is merely a taste of what we’re in for when the full trailer debuts today I think a lot of hardcore science fiction and movie geeks are going to be very happy by the time the sun goes down this evening.
Prometheus opens on June 8, 2012.
