And The Title Of The New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reboot Will Be…

Ninja Turtles

We’ve been hearing a lot about Paramount Pictures’ upcoming reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but most of it has been a tad unsettling…to say the least.

Recently Michael Bay, who is a producer on the project through his Platinum Dunes, revealed that instead of being mutated turtles as their longtime title so effectively points out, they would have some sort of alien origins. This of course sent fans into an enraged frenzy, and led Bay to tell everyone to chill out.

Now Bay is at it again, revealing an official title for the movie. And just as you might have expected, it supports recent controversies.

Sharing the news via his website once again, Bay revealed that they have in fact dropped both the “Teenage” and “Mutant” parts, and that the title will simply be Ninja Turtles.

But even though this does support the whole alien origins mess, Bay is adamant that this was only Paramount making a simpler title to market, and that fans do not have to worry at all about how faithful director Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) and company will be in making this movie.

Bay said:

Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers.

Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance.

Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.

MICHAEL

Again, despite my extreme dislike of any changes to the perfectly fine origins of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that may be rumored, I’m going to hold out until I see more from this movie. I may be holding on to too much hope, but I do very much wish that this will still end up being a fun movie for fans of the characters and franchise.

Thoughts on the new title?

  1. Get Michael Bay away from The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES NOW!!!!!!!

  2. I admit Michael Bay has a talent for big screen flair: whether as producer, director or writer. In his latest comments, he is calling for the fans to reserve judgement on the writers’ contribution to the franchise. For the writers and their talents, I will wait to hear more of the possibilities.

As for Mr. Bay’s involvement: if he’s pushing for overextending the budget with gobs and gobs of intergalactic special effects… that may be the only thing to drive me away….
