The sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s hit 2009 title How to Train Your Dragon has found itself a villain.
Kit Harington, the fast-rising star of the rabidly popular HBO series Game of Thrones, has entered into negotiations to join How to Train Your Dragon 2. Details on who exactly Harington will be voicing are being kept under wraps at the moment, but the character is described as being a “villainous warrior.”
The actor is a newcomer to the cast, which features the returning vocal talents of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kristen Wiig.
Harington has been a hot commodity since first gaining worldwide recognition as the humble and determined Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. He’ll next be seen starring alongside his Thrones father Sean Bean in October’s Silent Hill: Revelation; he was once cast as Arthur in Warner Brothers’ Arthur & Lancelot (which has since been put on hold); he just finished filming The Seventh Son, an adventure fantasy starring Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, and Jeff Bridges which is also at WB; lastly, he’ll also star in Greenland Time with Vera Farmiga.
DreamWorks was once aiming at 2013 for How to Train Your Dragon 2, but now it’s currently schedule for release two years from this day, on June 20, 2014.
