Though it seems unlikely that Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man is the Marvel Mystery Movie that is to be released in May 2014, that hasn’t stopped the director from testing out the technology. Back in May, we saw a very cool tease from the director that hinted at status of the film. But this new development will be the best thing that Ant-Man fans are going read.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wright has been working on test footage for a week earlier this month. Of course Wright himself couldn’t comment on the fact that any of this took place, but the trade confirms that these tests will be used for the look and tone of the film.
It isn’t at all surprising to see Wright test out some footage before heading off to shoot The World’s End. The filmmaker probably wants to get familiar with the probably stylized feel of the movie. Remember Henry Pym, better known as Ant-Man, has the ability to change his size drastically, from tiny ants into large-scale buildings. That ability to change to multiple sizes weighs heavily on the movie, so it’s great that they are working out the kinks now before they start shooting the film.
If the test footage proved to be fruitful, then there’s no doubt that Disney could green light the film. We will just have to wait and hear from the studio if they liked what they will see.
