The first trailer for Christopher McQuarrie‘s Jack Reacher has debuted online.
In the film Tom Cruise seems to be taking on the same persona that Ryan Gosling played in Drive. Whether or not you like Cruise as the titular character, I am sure the brutality in his violence should be enough to convince you that Jack Reacher is at least worth a look.
Check out the trailer below.
It all starts off with a small monologue from a person in a hospital after being beat up by Jack Reacher…or at least someone with the same amount of rage issues. Then it leads up to a display of Reacher’s ability to beat not only one, but a group of thugs.
Oh, there’s also some swell driving skills in a classic Chevrolet Chevelle. We have yet to see Werner Herzog as he is the villain in the film. The movie also stars Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins and Michael Raymond-James.
Jack Reacher is based on One Shot, which is one of the novels that features the Jack Reacher character.
Here’s the synopsis:
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me. And sure enough, ex–military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. He knows this shooter””a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right””and soon the slam-dunk case explodes. Now Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning””and then beat him shot for shot.
