Thor: The Dark World has been seeing the names on that casting sheet grow larger. Kat Dennings was recently brought back to reprise her role as Darcy, and now Lost actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is the latest name to be added to the cast of the sequel.
Be warned a few spoilers will follow, so if you want to go into the movie fresh, I suggest you ignore the following details.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play Algrim, a warrior who is pressured by Malekith the Accursed to fight Thor. But after being defeated by the god of thunder, Algrim develops amnesia and evolves into a stronger villain named Kurse. This is a pretty big supporting villain role, so director Alan Taylor has the huge task of setting the balance between Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Malekith, and Algrim. So if Taylor is successful, we could be seeing a lot of internal conflict between the villains and conflicts with the hero has well.
Aside from his role as Mr. Eko on Lost, Akinnuoye-Agbaje also starred in Oz, The Thing, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. His next starring role will be alongside Slyvester Stallone in Bullet to the Head.
Akinnuoyr-Agbaje joins Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard and more. How this film will all tie in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Avengers 2 remains to be seen.
Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on November 8th, 2013.
