Edgar Wright’s ‘The World’s End’ Adds Paddy Considine To The Cast

Paddy Considine

One of the most notable things about Edgar Wright‘s Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy is the use of the same actors playing different parts. It’s unknown if Martin Freeman will appear in some way in the final film, The World’s End, with his schedule tied up with The Hobbit films, and there is no word if Bill Nighy is signed on. But one familiar face is indeed coming back, and it’s the face that you see in the header.

Paddy Considine, who was in Hot Fuzz, will be joining Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Rosamund Pike for this bar-hopping film that sends the cast on a quest to reach a fabled bar, The World’s End, during what turns out to be the end of the world. We don’t know if it will be one of those typical world-ending catastrophe since there is a rumor floating around that there might be aliens involved in this comedy.

Variety, who broke the casting news, continues to use the basic premise that was given out earlier when the film first was announced. Considine will play a former ladies man and musician who has grown up to be a divorced architect.

Here’s the synopsis, which could be updated as we get closer to the Spring 2013 release:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Production is said to begin in October in the U.K.

  1. That’s a picture from ‘My Summer of Love’, which he starred in alongside Emily Blunt and which was filmed around my home town. I love these films, by the way =D.
