Merry Christmas to you all from us here at GeeksOfDoom.com – and we all know what Christmas means, right? That’s right: a brand new Doctor Who episode! Series 7 continues with the annual Christmas Special of Doctor Who entitled The Snowmen. Seeking refuge and isolation in Victorian London, and protected by some faithful allies, the Doctor becomes a recluse after losing his previous companions. However, as he broods, a new evil plot is hatched by a new foe with connections to some long-ago adventures the Doctor has experienced. During TARDISblend 58, we analyze the new Doctor Who, which comes complete with new iconic show titles and theme, and the debut (or is it?) of new companion Clara (Jenna Louise-Coleman). We discuss the new elements giving clues to Steven Moffat‘s overarching plots, as well as several cameo references to Classic Doctor Who in this episode. Also, we have a look at the performances from some of the special guests in this episode by Richard E. Grant, and Sir Ian McKellen. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

| $5 MP3 Album Deal: David Bowie ‘Space Oddity’
Space Oddity, the debut album by the rock and roll spaceman David Bowie, (pictured here above with its 1972 reissue cover) is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5. On this album, released in 1969 and Bowie’s second with his pseudonym last name (he was born David Jones and had recorded a few songs and albums with that name and a back up band called The Lower Third prior to Space Oddity), Bowie takes some of the musical cues left over in the metaphoric bargain bins from 1967’s Summer of Love and does his best Donovan meets Syd Barrett style post-post psychedelic musings. The title track of course was an international hit and is still one of the highlights of Bowie’s greatest hits albums and in the top five of his all time songs for many fans of his.

The film’s ensemble is comprised of Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and the humorous duo of Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen, who play shifty innkeepers.
