Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, the stars of National Lampoon’s long-running Vacation series, have entered into talks to reprise their role for New Line Cinema’s reboot of the franchise, fittingly titled Vacation.
The movie stars Ed Helms (The Hangover, The Office) as Rusty Griswold, the son of Chase’s Clark Griswold, who’s now all grown up and with a family of his own he’s taking on vacation. Christina Applegate is attached to play his wife.
So long as everything works out, it sounds like Chase and D’Angelo would only be making a cameo in the movie as Rusty and his family visit them on their trip.
Vacation is written and will be directed by Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, though it’s unclear if that means they’ll be sticking to the more adult-aimed humor of the original movie or the more family-friendly later installments.
Just recently Chase and D’Angelo both reprised their roles for some Old Navy commercials, which also featured some of the many actors who have played the Griswold kids over the years.
Are you looking forward to another Vacation?

oh yes! Even though each sequel arguably was worse than the one before it, I found at least a few things to like in all of them. Well, except for Christmas Vacation 2 (the one with Eddie on a tropical island)…that was pure turd. Only thing I dislike about this reboot is that Ed Helms seems to play a very similar character in everything I can remember seeing him in. Maybe that’ll be good for Rustys character? I don’t know. Christina Applegate could be fun and I loved the Griswalds in those Old Navy commercials! Clark didn’t start out as one and needs to be played as less of an idiot. Good character in the original and a great character in the Christmas Vacation. Buffoon in Vegas. Sure Clark walks through life with blinders on and takes things to a level beyond obsessed but not he’s stupid and it comes across as demeaning when the story has him playing an idiot. Chevy Chase’s cameo in Hot Tub Time Machine was a nice surprise so more of that and less of Vegas Vacation. Whatever happens though, I have a soft spot in my heart for these characters and would give it a chance.

Is it me or does Beverly D’Angelo still look ridiculously gorgeous?
