Michael Bay Jar Jar Binks

Just when you thought we had reached a calm in the midst of what seemed to be daily rumors and announcements in regards to the new Star Wars movies, a new rumor has started making the rounds in the industry. Word out of Hollywood is that director Michael Bay has been tapped to direct a standalone film set in the Star Wars universe. The film will chronicle the further adventures of fan favorite Jar Jar Binks and once and for all prove that he is the central character of the Star Wars mythos.

According to an unnamed source that requested anonymity due to the fact that they don’t exist, stated that the film will touch on all eras of the Star Wars timeline, starting with Jar Jar’s conception by Emperor Palpatine during his wild college days, moving through to show that he was the one who actually destroyed the second Death Star and that he is a totally cool character that no one should make fun of.

In Michael Bay, the film finds the right director to craft what is sure to be a quiet and subtle character piece. Bay is currently working on polishing the script that was originally written by prop comedian Gallagher. He describes the movie as a moving drama that gets back to the heart of what made fans like Star Wars in the first place: characters yelling and poop jokes.

Joining Bay on the project will be Canadian indie music sensation Nickleback, who will bring their unique mix of rock and/or roll to the film. This will mark the first time composer John Williams has not provided the music for a Star Wars film, and is perhaps the most significant departure for the project.

A source within LucasFilm said:

“As far as we know, this is the movie fans have been looking forward to for more than a decade. Finally we can feature the most beloved character in Star Wars in a movie that captures his grace and beauty in a way that we couldn’t before.”

Mr. Binks had this to add, “Mesa so happy to work with a director of Mr. Bay’s talents. Yousa really gonna love this movie.”

  3. A couple of quick questions:
    1. Did anyone NOT figure out quickly that this was an April Fools joke?
    and
    2. If so, was any of them actually DISAPPOINTED?
    Just wondering.

  4. Oh funny–I didn’t see this until today 4/2 and with Michael Bay I thought for a moment that he might do it, in a WTF moment–but then I saw the line about “Fan Favorite” and just laughed
