Marvel Comics has relaunched their Marvel #1 promotion, where the publisher is giving new and long-time Marvel Comics fans the opportunity to read 700 classic and modern first issues of their comics for free.
These issues are of course digital versions of these comics that will be made available through Marvel’s various digital outlets. The publisher’s first attempt at releasing these comics was met with such a huge crush of fans that crashed the system. After some retooling and an all-new plan, the free #1’s are back.
Basically what you need to do is go to the official site promo page located at http://promo.marvel.com and sign in with your Marvel.com account or you can go to https://promo.comixology.com and sign in with your Comixology account. If you don’t have either of these accounts, you can register now. Registration began this morning for the free comics and it ends at 11:59pm ET on April 9, 2013. On April 11th, Marvel will begin sending redemption information to waves of fans so they can go on the web and shop for their books. It appears this process will keep the number of fans trying to get the books simultaneously under control so servers won’t crashed. Marvel also says not to worry if you don’t receive your redemption information on the 11th; if you registered within the given time frame, you will be allowed access to the freebies.
These free comics can be read on the comiXology platform – available across iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, Windows 8 the Web at comiXology.com – and the Marvel Comics app (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch & Android devices) and online in the Marvel Digital Comics Shop, both powered by comiXology.
Now go sign up – 700 free comics await you!
