First Look: Jamie Foxx As Electro In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

Jamie Foxx as Electro

Here’s your first look at Jamie Foxx as the Electro, the villain in Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (see photos here below). According to Spider-Man lore, Maxwell “Max” Dillon gained the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning while working on a power line.

It doesn’t look like Webb’s take on Electro will involve any mishaps with power lines, but instead the product of further combining human and animal DNA. While people have been quick to toss out a Mr. Freeze reference from Batman & Robin, Foxx appears less frozen and more luminescent. He looks closer to Abe Sapien than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dr. Victor Fries. You know what Foxx’s villain really looks like?

Electric Eel

In the image just above, that’s Electrophorus electricus – an electric eel – and despite its name, it isn’t an eel, but rather a knifefish – which sounds way more bad-ass, am I right? This new design for Electro only furthers my theory that Oscorp will continue to experiment with cross-species genetic mutation in order to create a healthy roster of unique and powerful villains for Spidey.

I’m sure we’ll see some images of Paul Giamatti as The Rhino soon, and I’m willing to bet the character’s design will be similar to The Lizard and Electro – a balanced combination of human and animal DNA. Check out the images below for a closer look at Foxx’s electricity-wielding bad guy!

The movie also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Christopher Cooper, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

Peter Parker (Garfield) finds, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
