| Pizza Making 3D Food Printer Prototype Being Funded By NASA |

So you thought Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was absurd, eh? Thought the Replicator from the Star Trek universe would always be nothing more than science fiction? Never underestimate what the future might hold. 3D printing has been around for a while, but only recently has it really started taking off, with everything from parts and tools to jewelry and clothing and guns currently being magically manufactured with the push of a button. There’s even work being done on printing fully functional homes and structures for the moon. One of the things in the middle of much research and development is the 3D printing of actual edible food items. Food printing has been going on for a couple years already using materials like chocolate and cookie dough and masa, but NASA thinks it could get far, far more complex than that. They’ve given $125,000 to engineer Anjan Contractor to work on building a 3D printer that could provide tasty treats such as pizza to astronauts.

King Conan #1 is, well, charming. I’m afraid that’s the only way I can describe it. Yes, it has the usual Conan trademarks in it: sorcery, swords, fighting, blood, betrayal, and all those things, but at its heart, it’s just a charming comic book. Writer Tim Truman puts together a great tale set many years later in Conan’s life. But, in classic Truman style, this is just the framing sequence for the REAL story that he’s telling. One of how Conan met his first wife, who would later become his first Queen. And that’s when the fun starts. Again, he throws everything that you’d expect and want in a Conan story, and actually, some pretty nice swerves and surprises. There was a couple of places that I got lost in the story, but that was only for about half a page at most at a time, then Truman comes right back in and tell the ready “Hey, look! Here’s where you are!” which is great. This is the kind of comic that you’ll probably want to read more than once, just to get every detail that you can out of it. This is one of Truman’s best Conan stories in years, and it’s just the opening chapter.

Out of all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe scheduled for release during Phase Two, James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy would be the only one that isn’t a sequel. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (who reportedly isn’t fully committed to the film just yet), Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker all have starring roles in the film, with Lee Pace in negotiations to play the antagonist. The roles of Rocket Raccoon and Groot still have to be cast though, but with filming scheduled to begin later this summer, expect to hear of some names taking the role really soon. Now it’s being reported that John C. Reilly (Wreck-It Ralph) has been offered a role as Rhomman Dey in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Beyond The Hills
Directed by Cristian Mungiu
Starring: Cosmina Stratan, Cristina Flutur, Valeriu Andriuta and Dana Tapalaga
Release Date: March 14, 2013
Available now On Demand Over the hills and far away from the faintest semblance of civilization rests a quaint, remote monastery in the wintery farm lands of contemporary Romania. The environment seems to fend off all qualities of society, most noticeably human feeling and human contact, in exchange for a devout connection with God. Appreciating the joys of human affection is totally taboo in monastic life, and yet the inhabitants of the monastery scarcely understand the absence of crucial and life-sustaining aspects of humanity. Being one with God is all they yearn for. Only an unswerving worship reigns supreme as sisters and a priest are over-determined to praise their God fervently, oblivious to everything that isn’t religious oriented. Director Cristian Mungiu‘s perspective of this monastery in Beyond The Hills is astounding, as he evokes a bygone era when humans were petrified of what God’s wrath would incur.
