Pop Quiz, Hotshot: There’s a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO?!

Whoa. Wait. Sorry, that isn’t the question I want to ask – I just got carried away thinking about Dennis Hopper in Speed. What I really want to know is: how many movies have you seen this year?

Me? I’ve seen 89. That’s 89 movies in a little over six-and-a-half months, which means out of the 210 days of the year so far – I’ve spent 7.4 days devouring new movies. With less than six months left in 2013, I decided to do a top ten list of my favorite films of the year so far.

There are still tons of highly-anticipated films on the way – Elysium, Gravity, Ender’s Game, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, The Wolf of Wall Street – but, until then, consider checking out the films below. OK, enough talking, let’s get on with the show. Without further ado, here’s my list of the 10 best films of 2013 so far”¦

‘Metallica Through The Never’ Soundtrack Details

Metallica Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture)

To accompany their upcoming 3D feature film, Metallica Through The Never, Metallica will release a 2-disc soundtrack album called Metallica Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture).

The soundtrack, which will be released on the Metallica’s own record label Blackened Recordings, will feature highlights from the band’s shows last year at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, which is where all the performance footage from the film was shot.

Metallica Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture) will be released on both CD and digitally on September 24, 2013. There will also be a vinyl edition in both 33 1/3RPM and special limited numbered 45RPM versions later in the Fall. Check out the album’s track listing here below.

Francesco Francavilla The Black Beetle Necrologue

Francesco Francavilla‘s The Black Beetle comic book series will return this Fall with a new horror tale, the miniseries The Black Beetle: Necrologue.

The Black Beetle first came to Dark Horse in 2012 with a 24-page story called “Night Shift” in Dark Horse Dark Horse Presents #11. From there, the masked pulp hero of Colt City got his first limited solo series, the four-issue The Black Beetle: No Way Out, launched in January 2013. The Black Beetle: Volume 1: No Way Out, the hardcover collecting all four issues plus the “Night Shift” story, will be released in October and is available now for pre-order.

The Black Beetle: Necrologue #1, which will be released on October 23, 2013, is now available for pre-order online.

Superheroes & Sesame Street Characters On NYC's Citi Bikes

Scott Beale over at Laughing Squid snapped the photo above of various superheroes, like Batman and Captain America, and Sesame Street characters sitting on docked Citi Bikes in New York City.

Beale had no idea why there was such a gathering and I haven’t been able to find out anything about it either, but it is a peculiar sight, even in New York City. It would be one thing if this scenario took place in Times Square, where low-budget costumers fill the streets to get tourists to pay to take photos with them. But, this photo was taken on Centre Street, which is downtown near the courts, where you’re not likely to see the more eccentric side of Manhattan.
