It’s not much, but a new teaser trailer has been released for Penny Dreadful, an upcoming psychological thriller from Showtime.
The show is described as a “psychosexual horror,” and weaves together various literary icons such as Frankenstein and his monster, Dorian Gray, and Count Dracula as they deal with alienation in Victorian London.
You can check out the trailer below.
Penny Dreadful stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Billi Piper, Rory Kinnear, Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway, Helen McCrory, Simon Russell Beale, and Danny Sapani.
It’s created and written by John Logan and executive produced by Logan and Sam Mendes. The duo have worked together in the past, with Logan writing and Mendes directing the James Bond flick Skyfall, and they’re set for the next installment in the Bond franchise as well.
Logan is a three-time Academy Award nominee for writing Gladiator, The Aviator, and Hugo, and has also worked on the screenplays for movies like Star Trek: Nemesis, The Last Samurai, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and Rango. Mendes is an Oscar winner for directing American Beauty, and has also directed Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Revolutionary Road, and Away We Go.
J.A. Bayona will be one of the directors on the show. His previous credits include The Orphanage and The Impossible.
