During the 2013 Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles on November 2, I had the genuine pleasure to have an impromptu discussion with one of my very favorite artists of all time, Herb Trimpe.

The legendary comic book artist is most associated with his incredible run on the Incredible Hulk, as well as the mega-popular GI Joe, and Shogun Heroes series. He was also the first artist to draw for publication the X-Men character Wolverine. In a broad-ranging conversation, Trimpe talked about his beginnings with Marvel Comics, Stan Lee, current comics, and more. He proved to be a gracious, open, and funny guy.

Check out the video* interview, below.

The Visitor - Drafthouse FilmsThe Visitor
Director: Giulio Paradisi
Cast: John Huston, Mel Ferrer, Glenn Ford, Lance Henriksen, Franco Nero, Sam Peckinpah, Joanne Nail, Paige Conner
Drafthouse Films
Rated R | 101 Minutes
Release Date: November 22, 2013

Directed by Giulio Paradisi, 1979’s The Visitor stars legendary Hollywood director/actor John Huston (The Maltese Falcon; Treasure Of The Sierra Madre) as an intergalactic warrior who joins a cosmic Christ figure (Franco Nero) in battle against a demonic 8-year-old girl and her pet hawk.

Restored and presented uncut for the first time ever in the U.S. by Drafthouse Films, The Visitor is a ’70s psychedelic mindwarp complete with vicious bird attacks, multi-dimensional warfare and pre-adolescent profanity. Somewhere between Hell, the darkest reaches of the universe, and Atlanta, GA, the fate of the cosmos hangs in the balance.

The Visitor fuses elements of The Omen, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, The Birds, Rosemary’s Baby, The Fury, and even Star Wars, creating the most ambitious, insane film you’ve ever seen. Basically, Space Jesus sends an emissary named Jerzy (Huston) to Earth to capture Katy (Paige Conner), a little girl with superhuman abilities. Meanwhile, evil space aliens are trying to get Katy’s mother (Joanne Nail) pregnant so that she will give birth to the antichrist, another super-kid they can use to destroy the human race.

Arrow Introduces Barry Allen (The Flash) In Episode 8

The CW’s plan to expand the DC Universe originally was supposed involve Barry Allen aka The Flash being introduced in their series Arrow for several episodes, with the last of these serving as a backdoor pilot that would eventually lead to a full series order of The Flash television series.

Now, those plans have been scrapped, but not because The CW doesn’t like what they see in the speedy superhero, but rather because they have full confidence in The Flash. The network will forgoing the backdoor pilot, giving the hero his own pilot instead. This move is based on the reactions the CW has been getting about the character.
