Of all the Marvel Studio films that exist in Phase 2, Guardians of the Galaxy is the only one that isn’t a sequel. We did see a tiny tease last year in Thor: The Dark World, which was followed by a teaser trailer. But the film is perhaps one of the biggest rolls of the dice because of the fact that the comic itself isn’t as popular as characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, etc.
So Disney and the Marvel Studios marketing team is helping generate more excitement as they have released the first clip from Guardians of the Galaxy. Hit the jump to check it out.
The clip is actually a scene pulled from the trailer and the supercut that was seen at Comic-Con and D23. However there is a little more added into as we get to see what happens to Star Lord (Chris Pratt) when he is confronted by Korath (Djimon Hounsou).
An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits””Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand””with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1.
