Actor Tim Blake Nelson has entered into talks to join the cast of Fantastic Four, Fox’s reboot of the Marvel superhero franchise.
If a deal is reached, Nelson would play Harvey Elder, an outcast and scientist who eventually goes on to become the villainous Mole Man. Apparently Mole Man will not actually be appearing in the first installment of the new Fantastic Four reboot—Toby Kebbell has already been cast to play the familiar foe Doctor Doom—but the Harvey Elder character would set up the opportunity to use him as the villain in one of the planned sequels. Though introduced long before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles existed, hopefully they’ll avoid the Leonardo with Donatello’s bo staff look seen above.
Nelson would join a main cast that already includes the previously mentioned Kebbell, as well as Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, and Jamie Bell as The Thing.
The actor already has experience in the Marvel universe as well, playing Samuel Sterns (who would go on to become Leader in comic book mythology) in 2006’s The Incredible Hulk.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle), from a screenplay written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men).

This isn’t encouraging in the least. I’m waiting for the day that Disney buys back the franchise so they can do it right.
