With Zack Snyder currently filming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, how Warner Brothers moves forward with their DC Cinematic Universe after that is unclear. The rumored schedule, which runs until 2018, includes titles based on characters like Wonder Woman, Flash/Green Lantern, Shazam, and Sand Man, but the one thing that schedule didn’t have was a solo Batman film. Something that comes off as a bit of a shock considering that Ben Affleck signed a multi-pic deal.
While we will definitely see him in Dawn of Justice and Justice League, a new rumor says that we could see a solo Batman film as early as 2019. There’s even a working title: The Batman. Now all of this is, of course, just a rumor. Hit the jump for more info.
Latino Review was the first to report on the latest rumor. And details the reasons why it will be a while before we see a solo Batman film.
According to the report, Dawn of Justice will shoot until December. Production will take a break for the holidays, and then jump right into filming Justice League in 2015. After production on that film is done, Affleck will take a break of his own, which then would be followed by working on Live By Night.
Affleck wrote the period crime piece, and will direct as well as star in it. This comes after Argo was a huge success both critically and commercially. With Live by Night scheduled to hit theaters October 2016, and Justice League scheduled to hit theaters in 2017, plus all the press junkets, WB will have more than enough time to flesh out a script for The Batman in time before its rumored 2019 release.
If the rumor is true, there is even a small chance that he could direct himself in The Batman.
