It seems that you just can’t really say that your band has “made it” these days until you have your own brand of beer. Bands from across the spectrum of rock from Iron Maiden to Pig Destroyer to AC/DC to Pearl Jam are entering the brewing game these days.
Now comes the news that Brooklyn-based black metal band Tombs has upped the ante by launching an IPA containing “enormous notes of white grape, green pepper, mango, and marijuana.” The beer is being brewed by Tired Hands Brewing Company out of Ardmore, PA, and shares its name with Tombs’ spectacular new album Savage Gold (click here for my review of the record).
Continue below to see how it looks.
And if that wasn’t enough, Tombs frontman and java connoisseur Mike Hill has also just launched his own brand of signature coffee also under the moniker of Savage Gold.
According to the brand’s launch press release:
The first roast, Savage Gold Prime, is an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee bean grown between 6,000 and 6,500 feet above sea level. It is an aromatic and dynamic coffee roasted to perfection with a large flavor profile. It is sourced from a co-op of Ethiopian farmers and is 100% Fair Trade, certified organic and wet (mechanically) processed.
If these new beverages are anywhere near as good as their namesake recording, you definitely want to check them out. You can do so at the following links:
