Rumor: ‘Ant-Man’ Will Have Some Big Cameos

Marvel Studios films have always had some interwoven connection to each other. Even Guardians Of The Galaxy found a way to connect itself to the previous films thanks in part to the use of Thanos. But with that Guardians out of the way, it’s time to look ahead to 2015. Focusing on Ant-Man, it will be interesting to see how it will factor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it will be an original film in Marvel’s Phase 3.

Filming on Ant-Man will begin next week, but our friends at Latino Review have discovered some of the cameos that may or may not appear in the film. These cameos reach far beyond the MCU films as they may also have a connection to some of the television series. Hit the jump to find out some of the cameos of the film.

Again, I have to stress, that this is all unconfirmed at this time, but Latino Review has a pretty descent track record on these sorts of things. But does it make sense to have the following cameos in the film? Judge for yourself.

In earlier drafts of the script, Hank Pym in the first act prologue has a meeting at S.H.I.E.L.D and meets up with Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Armin Zola, and here is a cool one”¦a young Alexander Pierce.

Now we don’t know exactly which draft the site is referring to. As you may recall, Edgar Wright left the project over this sort of issue, although he was willing to rewrite a few parts before Marvel forced his hand. Adam McKay took a crack at it, so it could be his doing. There is a strong chance that it could be from Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who are on set doing re-writes.

Now, based on what we have seen from the teaser at Comic-Con, these cameos would make some sense for a couple of reasons. First, the film will center on Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) not Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who was the first Ant-Man in the comics. By having Pym be older, it allows itself to build connections to the past. So could we see a younger version of Hank Pym discuss the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Armin Zola, and Alexander Pierce. If that is the case, then the footage we saw at SDCC would make some sense, since it is Pym who is talking about superheroes in an unfavorable manner.

If Peggy Carter is involved, then you know that Marvel will do anything to bridge that gap by introducing a younger version of both Pierce and Pym in Agent Carter. Much like how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. provided some filler in between Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (and maybe Guardians of the Galaxy), Peggy Carter will establish its bridge to the MCU by acting as filler to Ant-Man.

Again, all of this is just speculation. There is no reason to believe that any of this is true, but there isn’t any reason to believe that this is not true. We’ll just have to see what early set photos or and footage reveals. Until then, it’s just the waiting game.

Also starring Corey Stoll and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.
