There is much secrecy surrounding the plot details of Star Wars: Episode VII, director JJ Abrams’ highly anticipated new installment in the Star Wars franchise. We know that the story will be set 30 years after the events of Return Of The Jedi and that original trilogy stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Peter Mayhew will reprise their roles, but those are all the good guys. What about the villains?
Latino Review has the scoop about who the villains will be — yes, plural! Also, the site has a lot of spoilery scoops on other aspects of the film.
Spoilers below for Star Wars: Episode VII.
First off, we know that for the Star Wars: Rebels series, the villain will be The Inquisitor (we got a glimpse at his figure at The Inquisitor, the Imperial who Darth Vader tasked with hunting the remaining Jedi. Though the character serves the Dark Side, he is not a Sith, yet he is trained to use dark side of the Force. According to Latino-Review’s scoop, there won’t be just the one Inquisitor, there will be an army of Inquisitors who have been around a long time as the defenders of the Sith Order.
Ok, first, it turns out Luke Skywalker has been missing for those 30 post-Jedi years, and he’s been held captive by the Inquisitors. Per Latino Review:
To catch you up on what we think we know about Episode VII’s plot thus far: Luke’s lightsaber (and maybe hand but probably not) crash lands on a planet leading Daisy Ridley and John Boyega on a search for Luke, which leads them to Han and Chewie, who aren’t in the Millennium Falcon because Oscar Isaacs has it. The party is looking for Luke who has been MIA since Jedi. But Luke isn’t hiding, Luke is a captive.
Once the group finds Luke, the Jedi explains the history of the Inquisitors, which triggers a flashback, a first for Star Wars. The flashback will show Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd as a young Princess Leia, as well as The Inquisitors shown serving Darth Vader, which means Darth Vader will be in Star Wars: Episode VII!!!
As for what that head Inquisitor will look like, Badass Digest has a scoop of their own:
He wears a black robe. His eyes are deep red. And half of his face is metal. He’s a cyborg. That was his hand in the picture JJ Abrams shared with the note about A Force For Change.
That sneaky JJ Abrams! He actually gave the first reveal of the villain in the film.

So, all this means that the Rebellion technically did not totally defeat the Empire if these Inquisitors were left behind to do their master’s bidding and have kept Luke captive all these years. Since Disney/LucasFilms has said that the original Expanded Universe of books, comics, games, and more were NOT canon, that means no New Republic was set up and what we find in Episode VII could be a lot bleaker than we imagined.
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2015.
What about the whole timeline of Palpatine’s clones, Palpatine possessing Luke, Luke re-establishing the Jedi order, Luke’s attempted assassination, Luke marrying would-be assassin, etc. That whole thing is just some alternate universe and instead, he’s been captive for the past 30 years? Doesn’t sound right …
Havent heard a thing about Episode VII yet that’s any better than the Heir to the Empire series. While a lot of the EU books are just plain terrible, there’s a lot of good characters there at least. However, from the I-refuse-to-admit-are-cannon Prequels to the Clone Wars cartoon (the crap CG one, not the first, animated one which was awesome) and the little snipets of Rebels that I’ve seen, the more Star Wars I see the less impressed by it I am.
Hoping against hope to have this new trilogy reignite the magic again, but not holding my breath.

Havent heard a thing about Episode VII yet that’s any better than the Heir to the Empire series. While a lot of the EU books are just plain terrible, there’s a lot of good characters there at least.
