Warner Brothers is readying a new ACME movie, which will be rooted in the classic animated Looney Tunes world, and they’ve hired the writers of X-Men: First Class to work on the screenplay.
Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, whose other credits include Thor, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Fringe (as well as other in development projects such as Top Gun 2 and Power Rangers), will work on the script, while I Love You Phillip Morris and Crazy, Stupid, Love directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are in talks to helm the movie.
While the movie is said to be rooted in the Looney Tunes world, it’s not an animated feature that focuses on Looney Tunes characters. Instead it will be a live-action/CG hybrid focusing on the ACME Corporation, the company behind the many wacky contraptions, tools, and supplements seen in various ‘toons, most notable of which being the Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote shorts. Perhaps the goal is to make something along the same lines as Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Despicable Me star Steve Carell (who also starred in the potential directors’ Crazy, Stupid, Love) is currently attached to star in the movie, with Roy Lee and Dan Lin producing.
