BAADASSSSS!   |

Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy

Welcome back to another sterling edition of The Digital Wire. We had some slim pickings for Blu-ray and DVD release news this week and my enthusiasm was found somewhat lacking. Still though, you might get some enjoyment out of the modest nuggets of info I’ve scrounged up.

Below you’ll find info on several future home video releases complete with technical specs, release dates, and links to pre-order at Amazon. We would greatly appreciate it if you use those links to order because a small percentage of each order helps keep this website running at max power. The cover art for certain titles has yet to be finalized.

Into the Storm

The effects-heavy summer disaster flick Into the Storm will be cutting a path of destruction to your living room on November 18, 2014 from Warner Home Video in both Blu-ray and DVD editions. Starring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), the critically-derided movie will include the following bonus features:

Into the Storm: Tornado Files
Titus: The Ultimate Storm-Chasing Vehicle
Fake Storms: Real Conditions

Moontrap

Are you in desperate need of another Bruce Campbell fix before the next horror convention? Then consider Olive Films your pusherman because they’ll be releasing the obscure cult sci-fi horror flick Moontrap on both Blu-ray and DVD on November 18, 2014. The mighty Chin and Star Trek legend Walter Koenig star as astronauts on an expedition to the moon who have a close encounter of the violent kind with an army of alien cyborgs preparing for an invasion of Earth. Extra features on this HD-remastered release will include:

New video Interview with Bruce Campbell and Walter Koenig
New video interview with director Robert Dyke and writer Tex Ragsdale
Audio commentary by Robert Dyke and Tex Ragsdale

Hercules

Like it or loathe it, Brett Ratner‘s summer spectacular Hercules starred Dwayne Johnson in the role many (including himself) assumed he was born to play and has earned some surprisingly positive notices since its theatrical release. The wannabe blockbuster will be coming to Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD on November 4, 2014. The 2D and 3D Blu-ray editions will include both the theatrical and extended cuts of the movie among a kingly array of studio-sanctioned supplements:

Theatrical version in high definition
Commentary by director Brett Ratner and producer Beau Flynn
Extended cut in high definition
Brett Ratner and Dwayne Johnson: An Introduction
Hercules and his Mercenaries””Delve into the story behind the team assembled by Hercules for his perilous missions and the skills required of them.
Weapons!””Exploration of the weapons created for the spectacular action scenes, including training with the actors.
The Bessi Battle””Discover how one of the major action sequences of the film was created with the filmmakers, actors, stunt team, make-up effects and more.
The Effects of Hercules””A behind-the-scenes look at the film’s spectacular visual effects.
15 Deleted/Extended Scenes

Guardians of the Galaxy

Now that it has conquered the box office in the U.S. and around the world, Marvel Studios’ latest comic book adventure Guardians of the Galaxy is sure to be one of the big home video sellers later this year. The James Gunn-directed sci-fi adventure is already for pre-order on Amazon in Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD editions and the site has posted a release date of December 9, 2014 though that is not official. Technical specifications and bonus features have yet to be revealed but we will provide them to you – along with the final cover art – when those details are made available.
