It really should come as no surprise that there won’t be an Iron Man 4 coming any time soon. Seeing how Robert Downey Jr. was goaded into saying there will be an Iron Man sequel on Ellen just so that people can stop pestering him about it, the actor appeared on Letterman to do some damage control yesterday and clear up the air.
This would have meant that Avengers 3 was going to be off the table, since his updated contract called for him to appear in two more Marvel films, Avengers: Age of Ultron being one of them. Since the Iron Man 4 news isn’t true, then it’s safe to say that he will be rescuing earth from all kinds of threats.
But the actor doesn’t just stop there; he confirms that there are more films coming, and that he is working closely with Marvel. But is this just another trick from him? Hit the jump to check out the video.
Here’s what he had to say on Letterman last night,
“There’s no plans for an ‘Iron Man 4.’ There’s no script for ‘Iron Man 4.’ But Marvel does have a plan and I think they’re gonna announce it. You know, Marvel’s very secretive about it.”
There really isn’t much to announce than the release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, or confirming the basic plot and cast for Captain America 3, Thor 3, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Doctor Strange. Ant-Man is currently in production, so I doubt that there is anything to announce, unless they plan on revealing the trailer for that too.
But I really think this is just Robert Downey Jr. being Robert Downey Jr.
