Rob Liefeld is apparently letting the cat out of the bag when it comes to the development on the Deadpool movie.
The creator of Deadpool was at Comikaze in L.A. this weekend, and at one point during his Q and A session he seemingly confirmed that Fox is indeed using Ryan Reynolds for the role of the “Merc with a Mouth,” and that the movie featuring the popular Marvel character is only happening because of Reynolds in the first place.
See what he had to say and watch a video from Comikaze below.
“Ryan is Deadpool. Look, Ryan Reynolds, he’s gone through that same career arc, the guy is ridiculously talented. He has a huge, huge passion for Deadpool. Deadpool’s not happening, because he was a giant star, they said, “˜Ryan, what do you want to do?’ And he said, “˜Deadpool.’ That’s why it happened. They would have no faith otherwise. That movie is because of his passion. He put together the team.”
But Pool wasn’t the only big news on the table as Liefeld explained that one of his other popular creations will be making his feature film debut at some point in the future as well, and that’s Cable! Cable is a telekinetic and telepathic “mutant out of time” from the future, who is striving to create a better world for humanity and mutantkind alike. He is usually mentioned in the same breath as Deadpool as the two characters have had many team up series over the years.
“Cable is awesome. And he will”¦when he appears on screen, we’re all going to nerdgasm, because he’s coming. They can’t hold him back. He’s coming.
So it sounds like Fox is putting the pieces together (finally) that will create a blueprint to emulate the wild success of the Marvel Studios universe put together by Kevin Feige.
So are you stoked about Deadpool and the early whispers of Cable coming to film?

As long as he can do the Nolan North voice, it’s fine by me.
I can’t stand inconsistencies, and when I heard the voice of Deadpool in that Ultimate Spiderman cartoon (the one where Spiderman is part of SHEILD and he has to work with a team) it was horrible.
