SNL James Franco as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There’s lots of parodies online for the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (like the George Lucas Special Edition, the Spaceballs version, and the Retro Recut), so it’s not surprising that Saturday Night Live would want to get in on the action.

During last night’s episode of SNL, the sketch show aired a parody of their own which featured host James Franco as an elderly Luke Skywalker, as well as the return of other familiar faces (faces, by the way, that weren’t in the real trailer).

Check out SNL‘s parody of the trailer here below.

Adr1ft Gameplay

Most of the games shown off at The Game Awards 2014 last night were games we were already aware of. But there were a couple of lesser known titles present as well, and the standout of these was a game called Adr1ft.

The game is inspired by Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, as you’ll see in the video; a “first-person experience” that sees the last surviving astronaut of a destroyed space station left to figure out what happened in the most isolated of places.

You can read more about the game and watch the video below.

King's Quest

Fans of the classic Sierra Entertainment point-and-click adventure series King’s Quest have been nervously awaiting their first look at the latest entry in the franchise for a while now.

Once upon a time Activision had a deal with the top developer in the realms of point-and-click games going today, The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us maker Telltale Games, to make new games based on Sierra titles, but that deal fell through and Activision decided to instead resurrect Sierra itself and bring in The Odd Gentlemen to develop the new King’s Quest. Despite the rocky road, the game has continues progressing, and tonight at The Game Awards 2014 the first trailer for it was unveiled.

You can see what the new King’s Quest looks like below.

No Man's Sky Game Awards Trailer

A game that’s been a standout favorite among gamers whenever we’re given a new brief peek at it is of course No Man’s Sky, the procedurally generated space exploration game from Joe Danger developer Hello Games.

Another brief, albeit exciting new preview of the game was shown at The Game Awards 2014 last night, and introduced another way to get around a universe that’s said to be so unfathomably massive that it’d be a challenge just to find a friend who’s also playing in the same universe: portals. That’s right, No Man’s Sky has little Stargate-like portals that will bring you to new awe-inspiring locations to explore.

You can see what they look like below.

The Legend of Zelda on Wii U

Back at E3 2014, Nintendo showed off a new game in the Legend of Zelda franchise that promised the biggest open world map the series has ever seen.

The Game Awards 2014 held their inaugural ceremony last night in Las Vegas (replacing the VGX awards after a disastrous showing last year), and plenty of new previews of upcoming games were shown amongst the various awards being handed out (in the form of the lovely new trophy, designed by none other than WETA). The awards closed out with our first look at the above mentioned new Zelda‘s gameplay, and giving fans an idea of just how big its map is.

In addition to the gameplay you can see in the video below, it was also announced that the new Star Fox will be released sometime next year before the new Zelda, and Majora’s Mask for Nintendo 3DS will be released before that.
