Hello Games' No Man's Sky

A new video for the highly anticipated space exploration game No Man’s Sky has been released.

Because the game is so impossibly large the usual story you’d find in a game wouldn’t work so well. But there is a lore for that universe, and this new video explores that lore. The video also reveals a collaboration with Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons and author James Swallow.

You can read more and check out the new video below.

Hello Games' No Man's Sky

An official release date has been finally announced for the unbelievably large space exploration game No Man’s Sky.

The game was first unveiled back in 2013, and it astonished many. We’ve seen various peeks at the game since then, each one making us giddy with hope that it would actually be what it promised to be.

In addition to a release date being announced, it has also been revealed that the game will be getting a physical retail version for you gamers (me, me!) who still prefer to be able to hold the games that you own in your hands. You can read the full announcement from Hello Games’ Sean Murray and check out the game’s cover art below.

No Man's Sky

The little game that could (which also happens to be the largest game ever made in terms of sheer size and how long it would take you to travel from one side of the map to the other—hint: if all works out it will not be possible) is back! We’ve seen a whole lot of great stuff when it comes to No Man’s Sky, the unbelievably gigantic space exploration game from the small team at Hello Games, and the game was in attendance at E3 2015.

Previous previews we’ve seen have mostly been pre-made videos of how the game looks and works, but this time around Hello Games founder Sean Murray took the stage to play the game live for the first time. In the short demo, he shows space combat, destructive environments, sentinel planet protectors, beacons, and more. He also offered yet another reminder of just how impossibly big the game is. If you’ve not seen much of No Man’s Sky, you won’t believe it’s a video game that can work watching the videos below.

No Man's Sky PlayStation Experience

If the couple of minutes of new No Man’s Sky gameplay shown at the recent Game Awards wasn’t enough for you, four more minutes of the game were presented over the weekend at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event.

The new gameplay demo really tries to give you an idea of just how astonishingly massive the folks over at Hello Games are aiming. It starts in one area, exploring a bit, before moving on to another area…far, far, far, far away. It also gives an idea of what it looks like to discover a new area. For those unfamiliar with the game, if you find a new galaxy, planet, lifeform, and so on in your travels, you’re locked in as the discoverer and anyone else who visits later will see you were the one who found it.

The video, which you can watch below, certainly will not help those who have been worried that the game cannot be what we’ve been told it will be feel any better, but it sure helps build on that excitement we’ve had since it was first unveiled a year ago. And if you are one of those who are worried, there’s also a special bonus video just for you below.

No Man's Sky Game Awards Trailer

A game that’s been a standout favorite among gamers whenever we’re given a new brief peek at it is of course No Man’s Sky, the procedurally generated space exploration game from Joe Danger developer Hello Games.

Another brief, albeit exciting new preview of the game was shown at The Game Awards 2014 last night, and introduced another way to get around a universe that’s said to be so unfathomably massive that it’d be a challenge just to find a friend who’s also playing in the same universe: portals. That’s right, No Man’s Sky has little Stargate-like portals that will bring you to new awe-inspiring locations to explore.

You can see what they look like below.
