SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are teaming up again for their third straight year as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards, which airs live tonight. So, Universal has taken the opportunity now to release the first footage from the comedic duo’s next film, Sisters.
Check out the first TV spot for Sisters here below, which will air tonight during the Globes. There’s also the official synopsis, the title card, and the first still from the movie.
The comedy from director Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), which hits theaters this Christmas, sees Fey and Poehler together again on the big screen. This time they star as sisters who after returning home to clean out their childhood bedrooms, try to recapture their youth by throwing a wild party for their old classmates. The actresses, who have a long working history together that began before their Saturday Night Live days, also starred together in 2008’s Baby Mama as well as 2004’s Fey-scripted Mean Girls.
Sisters looks like it’s right up my alley, especially after I saw that Xanadu movie poster on Amy Poehler’s character’s wall. Looking forward to this one; just wish it was coming out sooner, as I feel like it will be overlooked during Christmas season.
Synopsis
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler reunite for SISTERS, a new film from Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore about two disconnected sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need. Fey produces the comedy alongside Jay Roach (Meet the Parents series), and Poehler executive produces from a script by Paula Pell (TV’s Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock).
