Fox released the new Gotham 1.17 “Red Hood” promo video right after last night’s “The Blind Fortune Teller” episode along with new photos, and boy, does it pack a lot in that 30 seconds!
Watch the promo video and check out the “Red Hood” episode photos in the image gallery here below.
There seems to be three, maybe four things going on in this upcoming episode. It just would not be Gotham without these layers.
Warning! If you are not caught up on Gotham, there are definite spoilers from past episodes!
First, and most obvious from the title (and the flashes of literal red hoods sprinkled about) is that this marks the appearance of the Red Hood gang, as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) finds one in a surveillance camera saying, “There you are Mr. Red Hood,” and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) confronts a member. We knew that this episode would be run by this gang (here) back on February 2nd. However, the Joker is still too young to run it, and he was just the star of last Monday’s Joker episode (“The Blind Fortune Teller”).
Young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is being trained to fight, as a voiceover gives a probable death order. We knew that would happen after Bruce confronted the board of Wayne Enterprises about corruption.
Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) talks to brain-damaged Butch (Drew Powell) about Fish (Jada Pinkett-Smith).
Lastly, the promo reveals who has been holding Fish and the other dregs in the dungeon — Dr. Dulmacher. It makes sense now why he didn’t want his muscle killing any of them last episode, and why that woman was returned sans eyeballs in “The Scarecrow” episode. GoD reported here last month that The Dollmaker would return in the form of Colm Feore before the end of Season 1.
There are only 5 episodes left!
Gotham 1.17 “Red Hood” – Following several bank robberies, Gordon and Bullock investigate the Red Hood gang. Selina Kyle continues to bond with Barbara, and Fish Mooney tries to reclaim her position in the underworld in the all-new “Red Hood” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, February 23rd on FOX.
