How can Gotham possibly get any better? When you are loving every episode and shouting that love from the rooftops, it doesn’t seem like there’s anywhere left to go. How do go up when you are already at the top? It turns out, you can!
Lots of videos to check out here below, along with my review of Episode 1.17 “Red Hood.”
Some spoilers – beware!
Last week’s 1.16 “The Blind Fortune Teller” was delicious with mythology. It gave us almost the very beginning of future Batman sidekick Robin’s parents, and gave us a peek into the psychosis and laughter of Jerome, whom we think is The Joker.
Gotham 1.17 “Red Hood” review: After weeks of teasing about the Red Hood Gang, Gotham finally gives you the origin, with one of the members (only one donning a red hood) stepping up to rob, not the citizens, but the thieving banks, with flourish and pizzazz.
An old friend of Alfred’s (Sean Pertwee) passes by on a stormy night, and he tries to teach Bruce (David Mazouz) how to fight. Watch the promo below carefully. Is Reggie (guest star David O’Hara–Luther, The Tudors) all that he seems?
One comment – I really hope Barbara (Erin Richards) stops being creepy.
I got chills when Fish (Jada Pinkett-Smith) was walked to the person who has been keeping her captive in that dungeon. Will we meet Dr. Dulmacher (Colm Feore)? Every room she passed was creepier than the last. You will not freaking believe how this meeting turned out! I sat there with my mouth open.
I really want to know how much of Butch (Drew Powell) was altered. He kind of seems the same with the exception of his camaraderie with Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor). Jim (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey (Donal Logue) were almost secondary in this episode. That’s ok though. They were busy trying to solve a crime while the rest of the cast was busy being awesome.
And then I was crying at the end of the episode.
Four more episodes until the finale. My heart can’t take much more.
