Netflix Streaming - New To Netflix March 2015

Every month, Netflix Instant adds a bunch of new titles to their instant streaming service, so I’m here to give you some recommendations from their new offerings in movies and television.

Some of my favorite picks include Finding Neverland, the 2004 Johnny Depp film based on the life of Peter Pan creator J.M. Barrie; Parks and Rec star Aziz Ansari’s Live at Madison Square Garden; the 1998 Robin Williams film Patch Adams; and 2014’s animated feature How to Train Your Dragon 2. Also coming this month is the Netflix original series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the Tina Fey comedy starring Ellie Kemper, as well as the complete series for 3rd Rock from the Sun and A Different World.

There’s plenty more titles coming in March, so below are some of my favorite picks for the month, along with descriptions, original release years, and Netflix launch dates, as well as a few notable mentions for titles leaving the streaming service this month.

Note – some are up on March 1, while others will be released throughout the month.

New To Netflix March 2015: Top Picks

  • Finding Neverland (2004) – Coming March 1. Johnny Depp stars as Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie in this whimsical tale.
  • The Brothers Grimm (2005) – Coming March 1. A fantasy-adventure directed by Terry Gilliam starring Matt Damon and Heath Ledger as the titular brothers, the famous authors of all those Grimm Fairy Tales. Lena Headey and Monica Bellucci also star.
  • Patch Adams (1998) Coming March 1 – Robin Williams plays the title character in this dramedy based on the real-life story of Dr. Hunter “Patch” Adams, a doctor who believe in the power of humor to help the ailing. .
  • Aziz Ansari: Live at Madison Square Garden (2015) Coming March 6 – Aziz Ansari is hilarious as Tom on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, so I expect to be laughing through this stand-up concert he performed live to a sold-out show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
  • How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Coming March 11th – The follow-up to DreamWorks Animation’s highly successful computer-animated film, picking up five years after the events of the first movie with Hiccup and his dragon Toothless on a new adventure.
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2014) Coming March 6. – A new Netflix original series co-created by Tina Fey and starring 30 Rock and Bridesmaids star Ellie Kemper in a fish-out-of-water story set in New York City. Kemper is the title character, who’s ready to start her life over after spending 15 years in an underground bunker with a doomsday cult.
  • Archer: Season 5 Coming March 7 – Get your fix of master spy Sterling Archer when Season 5 of Archer, the animated FX series, comes to Netflix.
  • A Different World: The Complete Series Coming March 15 – Created by Bill Crosby, A Different World was a spin-off his popular sitcom The Cosby Show and centered on Lisa Bonet’s Denise Huxtable character when she went off to fictional Hillman College in Virginia. Bonet’s stint didn’t last long (only 1 season), but the show ran five years and starred eventual Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei, comedian Sinbad, Jada Pinkett (before she married Will Smith), and Jasmine Guy.
  • Garfunkel and Oates: Season 1 Coming March 25 – IFC comedy directed by The Wonder Years‘ Fred Savage and starring Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Kate Micucci (Oates) as a comedy-folk duo trying to make it big in Hollywood with their satirical tunes. Micucci gained some popularity as Raj’s anxious girlfriend on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory.
  • Mad Men: Season 7 Coming March 22 – Catch up on Part 1 of Season 7 of the AMC hit drama Mad Men; Part 2 of the season, which will be the final one, returns to AMC starting no April 5, 2015, so this gives you plenty of time to get ready for it.
  • 3rd Rock from the Sun Coming March 15 – Part of NBC’s must-see comedy line-up from 1996 to 2001, Third Rock From the Sun starred John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart, and a very young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as extraterrestrials posing as a family in Ohio to observe planet Earth and its humans. The sitcom also starred Jane Curtin and Wayne Knight. One of the great shows of the 1990s, a definite must-watch, especially on a Netflix binge.
