One of my favorite TV shows growing up was Dinosaurs, which ran from 1991 to 1994 and followed the day-to-day lives of an anthropomorphic family of dinosaurs. As a kid the primary reason the show caught my attention is because of the fact that all of the characters were puppets—or the Jim Henson factor. And not just because it reminded me of Labyrinth or Dark Crystal and so on; it was actually created by Jim Henson Productions along with Walt Disney Television, Buena Vista International, and Michael Jacobs Productions.
Every now and again you see a mention to Dinosaurs, but for the most part it’s one of the many lost to time. But today, today brings with it a real treat. Someone took the show’s father character, Earl Sinclair (voiced on the show by Stuart Pankin), and created a music video of him performing The Notorious B.I.G.‘s hit song “Hypnotize.”
The result is simply perfect. You’ll be amazed by how well it works. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what the internet was made for. You can check out the video for yourself below.
Dinosaurs is initially set in 60,000,003 BC in Pangaea. The show centers on the Sinclair family: Earl Sinclair (the father), Fran Sinclair (née Phillips), the mother and Earl’s wife, their three children””son Robbie, daughter Charlene, and Baby Sinclair””and Fran’s mother, Ethyl.
Earl’s job is to push over trees for the Wesayso Corporation with his friend and coworker Roy Hess where they work under the supervision of their boss B. P. Richfield.
If you’ve never seen the show, you can pick up the complete first and second seasons and the complete third and fourth seasons on DVD. Or, if you have Netflix, Dinosaurs is currently available to stream there.
The mash up was created by YouTube user Benjamin Roberts.
Note: the song is uncensored so a slight NSFW warning is in effect if you’re at the office!
