If you haven’t already, please stop reading, go watch this episode, and then come back to me. Spoilers!!
The Flash is back after a month hiatus and hit us right in the gut. Back in February, they tied up (for now) the Firestorm storyline, as Caitlyn (Danielle Panabaker) kissed her half (Robbie Amell – where do they grow these Amells?) goodbye. He and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) merge and fly off to Philly to a colleague of Martin’s who may be able to help sever their connection. The gang now knows that the Reverse Flash was not the only one there the night of Barry’s mom’s murder. Adult Barry as the Flash was there that night as well.
THIS was a season finale without being a season finale. This was a mouth hanging open in disbelief, OMG, did-you-see-that episode, that I could not even believe I was watching until it was over and I was bereft and then…? The question mark does not mean that I changed my mind about the crazy leaps my heart made during this hour, it just means that I have no idea what will happen now.
Can you tell that I LOVED this episode?
The Flash goes back to the beginning of the season and back in time. We finally see what happens to the Mardon brothers the night the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator exploded; how it is entirely possible that both Clyde and Mark (Chad Rook and Liam McCalister got the same powers. Now, Mark aka Weather Wizard has much better control, kind of like the large motor – small motor skill differences in toddlers. I think Mark’s superior skills are 75% he had more time to refine them, and 25% little brother Clyde was known as the more rash of the two.
Double date with Barry-Linda-Eddie-Iris (Grant Gustin/Malese Jow/Rick Cosnett/Candice Patton). Awkward much? Everyone notices how familiar Barry and Iris are.
Coolest effects ever!
Just gotta have a daytime geek moment. Roger Howarth as an addition to The Flash as Mason Bridge is spectacular. He is great in the role, throwing truths as barbs. Howarth is a daytime soap actor, who took over the role of Franco from James Franco (when he was moonlighting) on General Hospital. And he is the exact same character! Not in name, but in acting. I know that may mean that’s the only way he knows how to act, and maybe even that is his actual personality, but it’s awesome. He would not be the first GH actor to get in on The CW action. Sebastian Roche, who plays Jerry Jacks on and off for years, played Balthazar on Supernatural, and plays/has played Mikail on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
Cisco “as always” is a genius to the nth power, inventing complicated and impossible weapons or meta-stopper gadgets that take him to places he should not have explored. Just from the promos that have been teased all week, we know that everything is out in the open about Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh). But poor Cisco (Carlos Valdes)! Our hearts (and his) are broken.

Airing Tuesday, March 17. The Flash 1×15 “Out of Time” promo. Dr Wells secret is exposed.
It was a great episode; don’t get me wrong. But given where the episode ended, I think a lot of what happened is going to get undone.
