So Athelstan is gone, therefore I guess I have to turn my attention to everyone’s favorite jealous viking brother, Rollo Lothbrok (Clive Standen). Rollo is jealous of everything Ragnar has, but also loves him fiercely.

Rollo is like a little Socrates, with an SNL “Deep Thoughts” vibe. These videos are about 20 seconds long each, but show Rollo posing handsomely then giving some Obi-Wan advice, as the words flash across the screen.

The first one seems to be directed towards Ragnar (Travis Fimmel). I bet it’s about allowing King Horik’s son, who happens to be married to Yarl Borg’s widow, to participate in the raid on Paris.

The second one is about conquering oneself. I think maybe Rollo has done that finally. When they first came back from Wessex, and he found out Siggy was dead, he was a hot mess. He even fought his nephew, who started the fight to protect him from the others. But when they showed him months later in “Born Again,” he seemed more at peace, a little wiser, a little grayer.

The third video is obvious advice.

The fourth clip has a bunch of wise words. Rollo even speaks holding a skull in one of them. There are warnings about pigs, true words on death, and sleeping with a sorceress. Then there’s a bunch more included after that for your viewing pleasure.

Vikings had better not be setting up Rollo’s death with these web clips, because I will revolt.
