BAADASSSSS!   |

Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Marvel Studio's Ant-Man

Marvel Studios has released the first full theatrical trailer for their latest solo comic book adventure, Ant-Man. You can check it out here below.

The teaser trailer, released in January, leaned heavily on setting up the story basics. The latest delivers on the action and visual effects fronts and then some, with Paul Rudd looking mighty badass as the titular incredible shrinking superhero as he encounters insects of an unusual size and takes on Corey Stoll‘s villainous Darren Cross when the latter suits up as Yellowjacket. We also get a sense of the on-screen relationship between Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and the stakes involved in their recruiting thief Scott Lang (Rudd) for their battle against Cross.

There’s also plenty of humor in this trailer. The crowning touch is the fight between Ant-Man and Yellowjacket as a fearsome locomotive bears down on them. Wait until you see what kind of train it is.

Here’s a brief plot synopsis, courtesy of Marvel:

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Peyton Reed directed Ant-Man, with Rudd and Adam McKay credited for the screenplay while original director Edgar Wright and his collaborator Joe Cornish retain story credit. The film co-stars Judy Greer, Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Wood Harris, and Jordi Mollà, and will open in theaters on July 17, 2015.
