Recently we saw a teaser poster for The Visit, the upcoming horror flick from The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs writer and director M. Night Shyamalan, and now the first trailer for the movie has been released online by Universal Pictures.
The movie follows a pair of siblings who set off to stay with their grandparents for a bit, where they discover strange and terrifying things happening at night. It’s presented in a found footage style, though it doesn’t always look like one.
You read a full synopsis and watch the trailer for The Visit below.
SYNOPSIS:
Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series) welcome you to Universal Pictures’ The Visit. Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.
Shyamalan produces The Visit through his Blinding Edge Pictures, while Blum produces through his Blumhouse Productions alongside Mark Bienstock (Quarantine 2: Terminal). Steven Schneider (Insidious) and Ashwin Rajan (Devil) executive produce the thriller.
The Visit stars Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Peter McRobbie (Daredevil, Boardwalk Empire), Deanna Dunagan (Running Scared, Unforgettable), Ed Oxenbould (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Paper Planes), Olivia DeJonge (The Sisterhood of Night, Hiding), and Benjamin Kanes (The Penny Dreadful Picture Show, Assumption of Risk).
The movie will be released in theaters this September.
I can already see the blurb popping up in future trailers for this one: “Does for hanging out with old people what JAWS did for swimming in the ocean.”
