Last night was the finale! And what a satisfying end to the season, with a tease of excitement to come! Do NOT continue if you haven’t watched The Last Man On Earth 1.13 “Screw The Moon” yet, because there are spoilers.

The first week, there was just Phil (Will Forte) and then Carol (Kristen Schaal). The second and third week brought us Melissa (January Jones). The fourth week had Todd (Mel Rodriguez) jump in the mix. Then we got a week off from new people. Finally, we met Mary Steenburgen and Cleopatra Coleman. And last but not least, new Phil Miller (Boris Kodjoe) shows up. Does anyone show up this time?

The Last Man On Earth 1.13 “Screw The Moon” review: Carol and new Phil Miller are officially an item, much to everyone’s jealousy (except Melissa), especially Tandy’s. Todd finds out that Tandy thought about killing him too, and called him out on it at a cul-de-sac meeting. Tandy was banished, but he fortified himself in his room in a self-imposed siege. Carol tried to get him to come out, and there’s a really gross toilet paper eating scene. Hard to believe that we get Phil, I mean Tandy, even more pathetic than usual.

New Phil takes Tandy out to the desert and leaves him there with two days of rations. Carol, knowing Phil as we do, brought him more as he ate through everything. There they had a heart to heart.

This is where you should really stop reading unless you want to know everything.

This episode was extra dark, with attempted murder, banishment, desperation, and loneliness, but much like the entire season, there is redemption and light mixed in. Carol decides to go with Phil. “You need me.” Phil tells her, I think you’re making a really bad decision here.” Carol agrees. But, Tandy never went through with leaving somebody in the desert and new Phil did. They reintroduce themselves, Carol discovering that Phil used to have a brother.

Cut to: Jason Sudeikis in space! The name on his suit says “Miller.” He’s desperately trying to reach Houston, but Houston doesn’t copy.

I’m so excited! I screamed when I saw his face.

There will be a season 2. Congratulations to Will Forte, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller on a fine season.
