Happy Star Wars Day everybody! This day is especially important since it is the year we are getting a new film from the beloved franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. From director J.J. Abrams, the new film will see a whole new adventure featuring old and new characters. Much of what we have seen through two teasers has been wrapped in a shroud of mystery, and we only got a few clues as to what the sequel could be about at a recent panel at Star Wars Celebration. One of the biggest mysteries is who is Kylo Ren and who plays him.

Well, that mystery is solved today, as Vanity Fair has revealed who the actor is, along with a batch of photos that give us a peek at some interesting characters.

Adam Driver is the new villain who wields that broadsword lightsaber, Kylo Ren, and this news is the biggest thing to come out of all of this. But the magazine spread also revealed that Lupita Nyong’o, who is in mo-cap gear in the photo below, will play Maz Kanata, a leader of a band of pirates, who also appear in a group shot of rag tag creatures. But her role in the film itself is a mystery as well. Based on her group, Maz doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would align herself with a faction, unless it was for a price.

These photos originated from famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, who was at London’s Pinewood Studios.

The Driver photo also confirms that the Snow Stormtroopers are also getting a new look. However, we can’t be sure if the frozen tundra that they are on is Hoth.

There is also small video that shows off Driver as Kylo Ren, plus some behind the scenes shoots of the production.

Finally, Vanity Fair confirmed that they will reveal the identity of one more character tomorrow. It’s very likely that it will be who Gwendoline Christie is playing, although many speculate that she will play the Chrome Stormtrooper.
