Snake Eyes: Agent of Cobra #5 is stunning. That’s the good news. The bad news is, that’s pretty much all I can say about it without spoiling anything. Seriously, this is one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever had to writer. Every page of this book could be considered a spoiler. But, I’ll do my best.
There’s a reason that Mike Costa writes a lot of G.I. Joe comics. He’s really really good at it. So, if you’ve been keeping up on the title (which you REALLY should be), you know that Jinx and Billy are on the run from somebody’s who’s trying to kill them. This issue, we find out why and the answer will shock you and at the same time, it’s just flat out brilliant. PLUS….OK, this is impossible to keep up with at this point.
So… spoiler alert…
Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fight this issue and it’s one of the best fights between the two that I’ve ever seen!
End spoiler.
The book definitely has an ending, but it’s a VERY open ending, and that’s all I’ll say.
Artist Paolo Villanelli is the unsung hero of this title. His artwork is amazing! Remember that spoiler thing I talked about before? Villanelli is what makes it pop. It’s his artwork that really brings it to life. Plus, the rest of the issue is also fantastic, so it’s pretty much a win-win anyway that you look at it.
Again, this was a SUPER hard review to write because I don’t like including spoilers in my reviews. So, pick this issue up for yourself and find out just how terrific it is!
