Yesterday evening Matt Hawkins, President and Chief Operating Officer at Top Cow Productions, posted some great news for comic fans on his Facebook page about possible upcoming TV series based on some of their work. Nothing is officially announced as of yet but a not-so-subtle hint tells us we should definitely be excited.
You can see what Hawkins had to say below.
Here’s the original post:
So, being the sleuth that I am, I was quickly able to ascertain that he speaks of the titles Think Tank and Postal! The former is a limited series that started back in 2012 but recent news says it’s being relaunched later this year! The latter title is still in its first story arc and promises to hit below the belt in many ways. If you aren’t familiar with these titles then please help yourself to some of our reviews and interviews from the past few years!
Our man Zenestex reviewed issue #1 of Think Tank here, previewed #3 here, reviewed the trade paperback Volume 1 (issues 1-4) here, and reviewed issue #5 here. He even went so far as to interview writer Matt Hawkins during the original run of the comic. You know, come to think of it, he might be a fan of the comic! Personally, I missed the original run of the comic but just caught up on it this morning. It’s full of intrigue and lots of tech. Kind of a nerd’s paradise really. It’s a superb set of stories that revolve around how some might perceive our government and how they “defend” us. I can totally see this in an ongoing television series. The potential is almost mind boggling.
As for Postal, Maximus Prime reviewed the second issue back in March, you can check it out here. I read the first two issues as they came out but finished the next two earlier today, as well (I was reading a lot today). What a twisted little town, that Eden; and full of even more twisted individuals, to be sure. The adaption for this one might be a little more tame than the source text, I’m not sure that much crime, hate, and evil would do well. But then The Bachelor and American Idol have been on the air for years, so maybe I’m wrong.
It’s always nice to see good people getting their work out there and when it happens to be comics make the cross from one type of media to another, that’s even better. Like I said earlier, though, there is nothing concrete just kind of a teaser from Matt. So keep your eyes and ears open for more details, folks. We will definitely do everything we can to keep you in the know!
