At the conclusion of last year’s edition of Knotfest, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor promised the crowd that the weekend-long metal festival would be returning to San Bernadino, CA again this year. Well, it seems Taylor is a man of his word because it has been announced that the massive and eclectic production will, in fact, once again invade the grounds of the San Manuel Amphitheater and Glen Helen Regional Park October 23rd-25th.
Friday, October 23rd will once again have a small show exclusively for those purchasing 3-day camping passes. The lineup for this night has yet to be announced. However, the Saturday and Sunday lineups have been mostly announced and they do not disappoint! Details here below.
Unlike last year, Slipknot will not be headlining both nights this time out. The Saturday show will be capped off by the Metal Gods themselves, Judas Priest! Slipknot will close out the weekend with the main stage headline slot on Sunday night. Along the way, attendees will be treated to a wide cornucopia spanning many eras and sub-genres of metal. There is literally something for every metal fan. We’ve got the classics in bands like the aforementioned Judas Priest, Clutch, and At The Gates. Then there’s the crossover thrash of Suicidal Tendencies and Body Count. Also represented is the crushing grindcore of Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, and Dying Fetus. Black metal is represented as well in the form of Goatwhore, Belphegor, and Inquisition. Fans of more mainstream fare will be pleased to see All That Remains, Trivium, and Mastodon on the roster. Doom metal stalwarts Red Fang and The Sword will drag their doom out into the sunlight of the side stages. And for the new generation of metalheads there’s Bring Me The Horizon, Born of Osiris, and Abysmal Dawn. Oh yeah and Korn and some misplaced rap groups will give me a chance to go grab something to eat without missing anything that I care about!
Yes, that’s right… me and my 12-year-old son Jesse will be in attendance once again providing full coverage for you right here on GoD. Stay tuned for that and, in the meantime, check out my coverage of Day 1 and Day 2 of last year’s Knotfest.
