This is it! The last round of choreography before the top 20 are chosen. SYTYCD started out with 105 street dancers and 114 stage dancers in last week’s Las Vegas callbacks, vying for a spot on Stephen “tWitch” Boss‘s Team Street or Travis Wall‘s Team Stage. And it was tough – tough to perform, and tough to judge. But judged they were, with constructive criticism that they would hopefully take into account for their future dance careers, doled out by Nigel Lythgoe, Jason Derulo, and Paula Abdul.
Spoiler alert! The SYTYCD Top 20 is revealed below. Do not continue if you haven’t watched the episode!
This week is the last of the callbacks in Vegas with 38 street dancers and 36 stage dancers fighting for 10 spots each, respectively. Last week’s show ended at 9pm for those dancers, and the next portion started right away. In what seems like cruel and unusual punishment, they had to break into groups, find out their music, and choreograph their own routine. Some looked more promising than others. Most got one hour of sleep or less before it was time to show the judges what they came up with. And most of the groups killed it – especially Virgil’s “Party of Five” group. All in all, barely anyone got let go in that round.
Then they had the last of their choreography. Team Stage got the pleasure of learning from one of my favorite choreographers in the history of So You Think you Can Dance – jazz dancer, Sonya Tayeh. Her dances are always so quirky and strong. And Team Street also got one of my faves, NappyTabs. Tabitha and Napolean, a husband and wife choreographer team that have come up with hit after hit through the years. Tabitha demos the routine and she is badass. They might be the cutest couple on TV.
After all was said and done, the SYTYCD Top 20 was revealed:

But wait! The last few minutes revealed that someone got hurt between the taping of the show and today, so one of the rejected dancers will replace that one at the SYTYCD live show next week.
I wonder who it will be?
