Archer Panel Comic-Con

Archer has rocked the cable universe for 6 seasons and the FX show rode into San Diego Comic-Con for a panel discussion, to prep fans for the upcoming season 7. For those who haven’t dabbled in the “Danger Zone” (cue Kenny Loggins!), Archer is a wonderfully crazy, borderline pornographic, and altogether maniacal frenzy of animated drugs, guns, spies, and sex. It focuses on momma’s boy spy Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin), his on-again, off-again love interest Lana (LANA!!!) played by Aisha Tyler, and their partners in secret spy agency ISIS… yeah, well… until they kinda sorta had to change that.

Watch the panel videos below.

The SDCC panel features show creator Adam Reed, writer Casey Willis, and stars Benjamin (Archer), Tyler (Lana), Arrested Development‘s Jessica Walter (Malory), Judy Greer (Cheryl), SNL alum Chris Parnell (Cyril), Amber Nash (Pam) and Lucky Yates (Dr. Krieger). Among the topics discussed in the short clips below, are some of Archer’s quotable dialogue that has moved its way into popular lexicon. The most famous and fun one, is the use of “phrasing”… to be used after any type of innuendo. When Reed is asked about “phrasing” (which has kinda fallen off its use during season 6), he says Archer wants it to return, but he’d like to see a new phrase catch on… “Hamburg Sandwich” instead of hamburger… to which Tyler ridicules, “Because it’s always better to use two words when you can use one.” Well for Adam Reed, for giving me 6 years of fun so far, I’m with you sir. #hamburgsandwich… let’s get it trending!

In the second video, the panel is asked about their thoughts upon first getting cast, and Benjamin discusses trying to give Archer a British accent, which again is ridiculed by another panel member as Reed laughs that off. Jessica Walter steals the panel, as she says she attempts to bring “real life experience” into her role as Malory… anyone who watches Archer realizes how absurd and hilarious that statement is.

In the final short video, Reed is asked what’s next for Archer, and despite being slightly behind schedule, Reed promises more “sexy and dangerous” as the look to retool Archer for season 7. So make sure you’re ready for all the sexy danger you can handle, grab your pet ocelot, make a strong drink, and prepare for more Archer in 2016.

Be sure to keep it here at Geeks Of Doom all week for our on-site coverage of SDCC 2015.
